Our Programme – Take a sneak peak

We’re expecting over 250 to join us next week. If you’re one of them, we look forward to meeting you. If you’re not, for whatever reason, we’re keen that you don’t miss out. That is why we will be tweeting throughout the event @fsconf15 and under the hashtag #WhatMatters, and once the dust has settled, we’ll upload as much content from the Conference here too.

So, in that vein, whether you’ll be with us next week or not, we’re delighted to share our programme.

We are delighted to confirm that we have been selected to host next year’s Fast Stream Conference! We also know the vote was close, so we are even more grateful to everyone who supported our bid.

Keep your eyes peeled for updates coming soon. Follow us on twitter @FSConf15 and email any burning questions to fsconf2015@gmail.com.

THANK YOU!

Your conference needs you!

As the Fast Stream Forum rightly said in their message to us all last week, this conference is “for Fast Streamers, by Fast Streamers.”  That could mean that we go away with our theme and ideas and spend the next 6 months making it happen.  However, call us lazy or consultative, we don’t see it that way.  We want Fast Streamers from across Government to be involved in developing our early thinking into the finished product in February.

So here are just a few of the ways in which you could help us if our bid were successful:

Voxpops – Our theme is about the Civil Service prioritising what’s important to Ministers and ultimately the general public. We would like Fast Streamers from around the UK to record and send us 10 second video clips with members of the public telling us what they want from Government.

Content – Would you like to play an active role? We’d like to involve Fast Streamers from different departments as we build the conference programme. If not, we’d still welcome your thoughts and suggestions. For either, drop us a line at fsconf2014@gmail.com.

Accessibility – Do conferences frequently make the same mistakes that make it difficult for you or others to attend, access or make the most of them? Above all, our objective is for our conference to be accessible to every single Fast Streamer. If you have a suggestion that can help us achieve that, get in touch.

Implementation – Do you just want to gain some experience in events management and contributing to a large project? As with the above, email us. We’d be more than happy to have you join us.

Fast Stream Conference: Who wins? You decide.

Last Tuesday, the Fast Stream Forum opened up voting for the right to host the next Fast Stream Conference.

There are two bids in the running. One from us (‘Doing more what matters with less’) and one from a BIS/DWP consortium (‘The Civil Service and the private sector’).

Read the message to all fast streamers to find out how to vote:

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: FAST STREAM CONFERENCE

The Fast Stream Conference is an event where all FSers can come together, gain some supplementary L&D, network and get to know more FSers from across government. Organised and run entirely by FSers it’s the only L&D event where we decide the programme. This year we have two teams bidding for the right to host the FS Conference: The FCO (Doing What Matters with Less) and BIS/DWP (The Civil Service and the Private Sector). The outline bids are attached and you get to choose which one we run. You can vote for your preferred option here https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/TY65XWY (closing date 6pm on Wednesday 30th July 2014) right now or you can hold off until after hustings where each bidding team will have the opportunity to sell you their pitch.

The hustings will take place at 6:15pm on Tuesday 22 July at the Ministry of Justice (102 Petty France). Come along to, learn more about each team’s bid, and of course, cast your vote. If you’d like to attend please email us at FSConference2014@gmail.com.

When voting you will be asked to provide your name and .gov email address, this is to ensure that people only vote once. The Committee will be auditing the votes to make sure there’s no fraud as (quell horreur!) there was some sly cheating last time round. Let’s not do that again this time, eh folks? If you really want to spice things up you can hum the theme tune to Big Brother and say in a Geordie accent ‘who wins? I decide!’ when you click submit.”
